The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences are mandated by SERI to promote measures and projects to strengthen STEM skills among children and young people as part of the STEM mandate. The mandate supports and accompanies projects of the member academies SATW, SCNAT and Science et Cité as well as those of other renowned and innovative STEM providers, with the educamint platform playing a central role. educamint.ch was realised in close collaboration with the agencies Komplizen GmbH (concept and design) and 1up AG (technical implementation).
educamint supports teachers of all levels and subjects in enriching their lessons with extracurricular STEM programmes, as STEM skills are also becoming increasingly important beyond the traditional STEM disciplines. The platform also offers leisure activities for families and the general public with an interest in STEM. A newsletter informs about new and current offers five times a year.
educamint currently presents around 700 offers in German, 300 in French and 140 in Italian from more than 500 different providers. The types of offers range from exhibitions, guided tours and workshops to project work, online resources and camps, teaching materials, competitions and further training. In addition to classic STEM disciplines, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary offers can also be found and a sophisticated filter system offers a wide range of search options.
Providers can present their programmes on educamint free of charge and find resources for the placement, networking and funding of their programmes.
As a central point of contact for people interested in STEM throughout Switzerland, educamint supports the strengthening of interest in STEM among children and young people as well as the general population and thus also counteracts the shortage of skilled workers.
