Innovation thanks to networking: Prof. Roger Marti appointed Head of the Topical Platform Chemistry

Prof. Roger Marti has been head of the SATW's topical platform Chemistry since this year. Its main task is the early identification of problems and opportunities in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry and pharmacy that are relevant to Swiss industry. Environmental risks are also monitored in these areas. We asked Roger Marti about himself and his plans for the topical platform.

What is your expertise and what is your personal vision?

I am Full Professor UAS of Organic Chemistry & Process Chemistry at the Institute ChemTech at Haute école d’ingénierie et d’architecture de Fribourg. My research interests focus on catalysis, synthetic organic chemistry & sustainable process chemistry in the context of bioeconomy. My vision is to use chemistry as a driving force for sustainable innovation.

How will you strategically align the topical platform? What are your goals?

The topical platform Chemistry of the SATW is committed to innovation and sustainable solutions in the chemical industry. I see a focus on green & sustainable chemistry, circular economy, new (bio)materials and process technologies. The aim is to actively shape the future of chemistry through the exchange of expertise, to network the SATW with the chemical industry in Switzerland and to support SATW’s report Technology Outlook.
