COOPERATION

Industrie 4.0: Fabrikgebäude und Technik

The SATW Advanced Manufacturing Research Alliance aims to foster autonomous collaboration among existing Swiss research bodies in the field of advanced manufacturing. It focuses mainly on additive manufacturing processes and industry 4.0.

Purpose and objectives

The SATW Advanced Manufacturing Research Alliance aims to foster autonomous collaboration among existing Swiss research bodies in the field of advanced manufacturing. It focuses mainly on additive manufacturing processes and industry 4.0.

The alliance aims to improve the utilisation range and rate of its partnersí existing infrastructures, avoid or eliminate redundancies, and thus reduce operating costs.

The alliance further champions support for pre-competitive research and development in the field of advanced manufacturing in Switzerland. It seeks to raise awareness of the significance of these topics in the realms of politics and business, and campaigns for increased research funding in this field.

Research Alliance – setup and organisation

The Research Alliance consists of a Steering Committee and one or more Expert Groups. At this stage, only one Expert Group has been set up, in the field of additive manufacturing, but more groups are planned in other areas of research.

The Steering Committee defines the Research Allianceís strategic orientation. It also assesses suggestions made by Expert Groups, takes further action, and ensures proper coordination with other SATW activities.

Expert Groups define areas in which research is urgently needed and recommend relevant research projects in the field of advanced manufacturing. They make proposals to the Steering Committee regarding joint projects as well as potential project partners and funding sources.

Each partner of the Research Alliance is represented by one voice in the Steering Committee and the Expert Group(s). Other Swiss research bodies may join the Research Alliance at any time.
