New technologies can help to build for a more sustainable future. And this is desperately needed: resources are becoming increasingly scarce and at the same time millions of tonnes of construction waste are still ending up in landfill sites. The construction of the future is circular. This means minimising waste and not using materials that are harmful to the environment and health. Above all, however, it means that the raw materials used can be reused later. Such a cycle starts at the planning stage.
In this issue of Technoscope, we look at the latest technologies used to build a concert hall, go on a treasure hunt for raw materials in the city and take inspiration from nature in architecture.
