Around one million people in Switzerland have already been affected by an online attack. These are the findings of a study conducted by the market and social research institute gfs-zürich at the beginning of 2019. The attacks resulted in financial losses, relevant expenses for damage control or emotional stress. Nevertheless, more than half of the people affected believe they are sufficiently informed to protect themselves against such attacks. This contradiction to the reality of the damage shows how important comprehensive awareness-raising measures are. The National Strategy for the Protection of Switzerland against Cyber Risks (NCS) 2018-2022 is an important pillar in this regard.
