A job that has something to do with technology? No thanks, that's too dry for me! You often hear this preconception. The seven examples we present in this issue show just how wrong this assumption is. They show job profiles that in some cases did not even exist until recently. Or introduce young women and men who use their expertise in the fields of technology, science or engineering as a springboard to realise an idea that is close to their hearts, to turn a passion into a career. Or simply to make a contribution to a slightly better or more sustainable world. And it turns out that whether it's agriculture, medicine, the climate crisis or nutrition - technology is almost always part of the solution.
Of course, all these professions require not only motivation but also a solid education. This can, but does not necessarily have to be a (specialised) university degree. Specialists in the planning and installation of solar systems, for example, or hackers who protect Switzerland from cyber attacks on behalf of the army, can also become career changers, i.e. people who have taught themselves their skills themselves or in a roundabout way
Taught themselves or in a roundabout way.
