Erich Windhab (1956) studied chemical engineering/process engineering at the University of Karlsruhe and has been Professor Emeritus of Food Process Engineering at the Institute of Food and Nutritional Sciences at ETH Zurich since August 2021.

He helped build up the high-calibre SATW thematic platform "Food Technology" and equipped it with several C-level personalities to whom SATW now has access thanks to him. Erich Windhab regularly writes articles on the subject of food technology for the SATW's early detection reports. He is available to the SATW as an expert for further studies and is active in international working groups as a representative of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences.

With his commitment, his innovative spirit and his network, Erich Windhab played a key role in initiating the Food 4.0 initiative of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences and actively supported its launch. Without his commitment, it would hardly have been possible for the SATW as lead academy to successfully launch the initiative in such a short space of time. Erich Windhab has been a SATW individual member since 1 January 2019 and has headed the SATW Food Technology Platform since 1 January 2016.
