Rethinking energy - Utilising and converting energy efficiently

The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences (Akademien-Schweiz) think paper on energy is an appeal to those responsible in Switzerland in business, administration, politics and science to actively tackle the challenges of global energy use and supply. The urgency of moving away from fossil fuels and the scale of the task are now so great that rapid action by all nations and the necessary leadership of rich countries such as Switzerland are required. Due to the different histories, energy resources and stages of development in the individual countries, there are differentiated responsibilities for industrialised, emerging and developing countries.

Between November 2006 and June 2007, the Denk-Schrift Energie was subjected to a double review process by experts from the academies. 47 researchers from many disciplines contributed to the content of this publication. The Denk-Schrift was then scrutinised by designated experts from the academies and approved by the Executive Committee of academia-switzerland.
